Announcing the 2023 Finalists for the NIHCM Awards in Journalism and Research

Washington, D.C., March 22, 2023 – The NIHCM Foundation is pleased to announce the finalists for the 2023 NIHCM Awards in Journalism and Research. This years’ entries offer powerful explorations of the forces driving change in health care for organizations, consumers, and care providers.

“In this, our 29th year of the NIHCM Awards, our finalists did an extraordinary job of revealing important insights about this new era in health care. Both journalists and researchers underscored the increasing impact of private equity in medicine and highlighted contributors to rising health care costs. Compelling stories brought to light new issues in cancer treatment, access to care, and the opioid crisis, while our research finalists also uncovered new evidence on medicine and racial bias and the economics of health care,” said Nancy Chockley, Founding President and CEO of NIHCM.

The NIHCM Foundation’s independent panels of judges reviewed 496 entries this year to select 41 finalists. The winning entry in each category will receive a $15,000 to $20,000 cash prize. The winners will be announced in April.

The NIHCM Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to transforming health care through evidence and collaboration.
