Summary of the Project:
Disparities in cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment, and survival persist for many populations. This project will look at the ways that cancer screening guidelines may contribute to these disparities.
About the Grantee:
Melba Newsome is an award-winning journalist with more than 20 years of experience contributing investigative education, health, and environmental features to regional and national publications including Scientific American, Nature, National Geographic, Undark and Wired. She is a two time Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting grantee, a 2023 Alicia Patterson fellow. She is currently an adjunct journalism professor at Wake Forest University.
