Summary of the Project:
Diabetes is a common and costly chronic condition, and complications differ by race and ethnicity. Little is known about how such complications develop in patients with diabetes over time and whether differences in timing of diabetes identification and treatment mediate differences in timing of developing complications. This research team will examine longitudinal differences by race and ethnicity in diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes both for patients with prediabetes and for patients with diabetes. The results from this study will inform better targeting of future interventions to reduce racial and ethnic disparities in diabetes care and outcomes.
