Finalists Selected: The 2025 NIHCM Awards in Journalism and Research

Washington, D.C., May 14, 2025 – It is our great pleasure to announce the finalists for the 31st Annual NIHCM Awards in research and journalism.

“Through rigorous research and reporting, each of our extraordinary finalists produced valuable insights on the forces behind rising costs in health care and challenges to the delivery of high-quality care. Reflecting NIHCM’s renewed focus on health care management and affordability, the finalists investigated trends in hospital financing, health care utilization, the health care workforce, the pharmaceutical industry, care in rural America, and much more,” said Avik Roy, CEO and President of NIHCM. “With the introduction of our inaugural Local Media Award, we are also highlighting the accomplishments of this vital sector of journalism.”

The NIHCM Foundation’s independent panels of judges selected finalists from a competitive pool of entries. The winning entry in each category will receive a $15,000 to $20,000 cash prize. The winners will be announced in early June, 2025.

The NIHCM Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to transforming health care through evidence and collaboration.
