Medical Necessity

Health plans and government programs regularly face difficult decisions about whether care is "medically necessary." NIHCM Foundation held a symposium, "Making Coverage Decisions about New and Emerging Technologies." Also, NIHCM co-sponsored a forum (policy brief) on this important topic with the U.S. Agency for Health Care Policy and Research (now the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality).
