The Fourth Annual NIHCM Foundation Health Care Television and Radio Journalism Award Definition: Recognizing excellence in television and radio reporting on health care issues and policy Award and Prize:A $10,000 prize will be presented to the winner at a dinner in Washington, DC in May 16, 2011. Selection Criteria:- New insights generated by the reporting
- Impact on health care policy
- Quality of writing and production
Eligibility: - Entries must originally have aired during calendar year 2011
- Entries will be accepted from staff employees of national or local news organizations, nationally-distributed cable programs, or from freelance journalists who have produced reports disseminated by same
- Online stories will be accepted if produced for and disseminated originally on the web in affiliation with a television or radio news organization. Material repurposed from other media will not be accepted.
Award process and rules:- Entries must be postmarked by February 15, 2011.
- Entries must include:
- SEVEN copies of the entry (in CD or DVD format)
- Television and web entries must be submitted on DVD
- Radio entries must be submitted on CD
- Commercials should be ommitted
- Each DVD or CD must be labeled with the story title, name of entrant and organization, airdate, and length of entry.
- One story per DVD or CD
- TWO copies EACH of:
- Completed ENTRY FORM
- The script
- A written description of the entry and its impact; length not to exceed 100 words
- A brief biography and contact information for person(s) to share in award (e.g., producer, director, reporter, etc.)
