To encourage outstanding work from journalists furthering innovation in health care policy and management, The National Institute for Health Care Management Research and Educational Foundation (NIHCM Foundation) recognizes excellence in health care reporting and writing with two $10,000 awards. NIHCM Foundation awards prizes to the winning entry in the following two categories:- Health Care Article or Series from General Circulation Publications
- Health Care Article or Series from Trade Publications
The 17th Annual NIHCM Foundation Health Care Print Journalism Awards
Definition: Recognizing excellence in health care reporting and writing on the financing and delivery of health care and the impact of health care policy Award and Prize:A $10,000 prize will be presented to the winner at a dinner in Washington, DC on May 16, 2011. Selection Criteria:- New insights generated by the reporting
- Impact on health care policy
- Quality of reporting
- Relevance to one or both of the subject areas (financing and delivery of health care and/or the impact of health care policy)
Eligibility:- Articles must originally have been published during the calendar year 2010.
- Entries will be accepted from all staff reporters and editors, as well as freelance writers for articles that appeared in a General Circulation or Trade Publication.
- Online articles will be accepted if produced and disseminated originally on the web in affiliation with a General Circulation or Trade Publication.
- Articles should be timely and produce new insights into health care financing and delivery or health care policy.
Application Process and Rules:- Entries must be postmarked by February 15, 2011.
- Entries must include TWO copies EACH of:
- Completed ENTRY FORM
- Clear copy (8 ½ x 11 inches) of the article
- A written description of how the article is relevant to the subject areas and its impact; length not to exceed 100 words
- A brief biography of the author(s). Please include contact information for each author.
- A single topic series will be considered as one entry
- Limit of three (3) entries per author
