About Us

The National Institute for Health Care Management Research and Educational Foundation (NIHCM Foundation) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan group that conducts research on health care issues. The Foundation disseminates research findings and analysis that promote and enhance access to health care and the efficiency and effectiveness of health care services and delivery. 

The Foundation also holds forums and briefings for policy makers, the health care industry, consumers, the government, and the media to increase understanding of issues affecting the health care system.

The Foundation is a tax-exempt organization, under IRC Sec. 501(c)(3), supported by government and private-sector grants and contributions. NIHCM Foundation is not a private foundation as defined in IRC Sec. 509(a)(3).

Reflecting its mission, NIHCM Foundation receives funding from the government, health plans, and foundations. These diverse sources include:

  • Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
  • The Commonwealth Fund
  • Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
  • Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)
  • Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB)

  • Various Blue Cross and Blue Shield Health Plans
